Afternoon Window pairs an oat-colored wall with a simple window opening, a pale floor, and interchangeable sky inserts. The restrained architectural lines create a setting for ceramics, hair accessories, miniature artwork, and other small objects.

Use the illustrated shadow wall when working with soft, even light, or build the open-window version and experiment with the separate window-grid stencil. Actual projected shadows require an external light source; the files do not create light, and results will vary with lamp position and room conditions.

Supplies You’ll Need

Printer-compatible matte cardstock, cutting tools, adhesive, optional backing, and an external lamp if you want real projected shadows.

⚠️ Before You Build

Never attach paper to a light fixture or place it against a bulb. Follow your lamp manufacturer’s clearance instructions and stop if paper becomes warm. Interior window cuts require careful adult handling. The window frame is decorative and cannot support objects.

📖 Quick-Start Instructions

Print at 100% and check the test ruler.
Choose either the printed-shadow wall or the cutout-window wall.
For the cutout version, remove the window opening before attaching the trim.
Mount a sky insert behind the opening and secure the wall supports.
Place your subject on the floor panel.
If using the stencil, hold it on a separate stable support between a suitable cool-running light and the scene; adjust without touching the lamp.

Computer & Printing Requirements

You’ll need a device that can download and open PDF and JPG or PNG files. If files are supplied in a ZIP folder, extract the folder before opening its contents.

Use a PDF reader with an Actual Size / 100% printing option. A desktop or laptop is recommended for checking scale and print settings. No paid design subscription is required.

Print on US Letter paper, 8.5" × 11". Matte cardstock around 65–80 lb cover, approximately 176–216 gsm, may be suitable, but use only a weight supported by your printer. Check its manual before loading heavier stock.

The files are flattened and are not editable design templates, 3D-printing models, or cutting-machine files. Enlarging beyond the stated dimensions may reduce image quality and change how components fit.

Color & Photography Notes

Screens, printers, ink, paper, and lighting reproduce colors differently. Print a test sheet before producing the full set.

Illustrated stone, wood, metal, fabric, and reflective finishes are printed visual effects. Unless specifically listed, the files do not create real material texture, metallic shine, transparency, reflections, or illumination.

Suggested subject sizes are composition guidelines, not guaranteed fits. Camera angle, lens choice, subject width, and distance affect the usable image area.

Your Usage License

One purchase licenses one individual or one business to print and assemble the files for its own photography work.

You may use photographs you create with the assembled scenes in personal projects, social media, product listings, advertising, and client photography.

You may not share, redistribute, sublicense, or resell the source files, extracted artwork, printed backdrop sheets, or assembled kits. Do not upload the artwork as a standalone stock image or print-on-demand design.
